Why Come to The Atlanta Bunion Institute?
The surgical treatment of painful bunions should only be handled by experts surgically trained to work on the foot. Unfortunately, many patients fall prey to the “Tales of the Nightmare of Bunion Surgery” by allowing inexperienced doctors or non-surgeons to perform the procedure. Bunion surgery involves the careful handling of soft tissue, bone removal and the ability to avoid any complications such as bleeding, swelling and infection. Dr. Stanley Kalish is a leading foot and leg surgeon with over 40 years of surgical experience. He has successfully operated on more than 10,000 patients, many who fly into Atlanta just to see him. At The Atlanta Bunion Institute, we treat our patients like family. We know how hard it is to take the time off of work to recover from foot surgery. That’s why we do whatever it takes to successfully get you back on your feet in as little time as possible.
Types of Bunion Treatment Performed at The Atlanta Bunion Institute
- Kalish Osteotomy – Dr. Stanley Kalish is the pioneer and inventor of the revolutionary in-patient bunion surgery known as “The Kalish Osteotomy.” Successfully performed on more than 10,000 patients over the past 40 years, “The Kalish Osteotomy” is recommended for patients with bunions that have never been operated on before. The side of the metatarsal bone is cut and aligned with a long arm of bone on top of the metatarsal and then secured with a screw to create a more stable fixation. The surgery is now performed by thousands of podiatrists and orthopedists worldwide. The average recovery and ‘back-in-shoe’ time is 3-4 weeks. Patients can return to their normal exercise routine within six weeks.
- Additional bunion procedures performed by Dr. Kalish include joint replacement and salvage procedures. To find out which surgery is best for you, contact The Atlanta Bunion Institute.
